‘Trace Elements – Cezanne out walking’

…artists' relationships with the act of walking developed in an unhurried way

…walking has a long history, in philosophy there is Aristotle, who taught philosophy while strolling in the Lyceum of ancient Athens. Others such as Immanuel Kant, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Søren Kierkegaard and Walter Benjamin are also known to have done a lot of their thinking while taking walks. Artists too have been interested in walking and quite a number have based their work in and around the creation of walks.
