I create sculptural objects born from everyday materials. I use the physical characteristics of the materials and my background in textiles to determine the final object. The concepts behind my work reference nature, patterns and mathematical theory. My aim is to visualize, in a creative and poetic way, ideas formed from my investigations into these subjects. The process of making is a vital part of my practice. Frequently the materials I use can direct and influence the end product and the work becomes enriched by unexpected discoveries.
The work on show in 1 Church Walk examines topics such as self-organising patterns, spirals and mathematical theories.
Important parts of my artistic practice are my drawings and prints, which I like to show in support of my sculpture. |
