Clare McFarlane’s work has appeared in a range formats. She works with digital media, the found object and she creates objects.
Her work evolves from the traces or remains that are left behind after a departure or event has occurred.
The resulting ideas bubble to the surface and manifest in the collection of objects and documentation of observations.
She is fascinated by the way in which human lives intertwine with each other, sometimes barely aware that they are doing so, and subsequently create narratives along the way.
The act of becoming part of the narrative is important whether as participant or voyeur, an intruder into the lives/past lives of others. The act of being an intruder with a purpose, attempting to make sense of it all, somehow makes a shift and moves the boundaries in a different direction. |
