Kate’s career in sculpture began in Worcester and Hereford where she did her foundation course, since then she has gained her BA at Goldsmiths College, University of London, and this year has completed her MFA at Slade School of Fine Art, UCL, London.
Her work explores architectural spaces and the figure. For the last 2 years she has been physically throwing clay into corners in her London studio. She then manipulates the clay mounds to reveal fragments and poses of figures within the material. These figures are rendered roughly and loosely.
“The work is expressive, referencing Rodin and Lucio Fontana. I leave the clay wet; the figures are always temporary ready to return to clay, simply a moment in time”
